What They Do:
Hand in Paw’s professionally-trained volunteer handlers and animal Therapy Teams provide animal-assisted therapies in several medical centers, schools, and human service organizations throughout North Central Alabama. Their volunteer teams make thousands of beneficial visits through community events and participating facilities each year, helping countless children with special needs, at-risk youth, struggling students, and people with chronic and terminal illnesses.

Hand in Paw runs multiple programs aimed at improving the lives of others through animal-assisted therapyand activities. From offering positive distractions for children enduring chemotherapy, 
chemotherapy, creating opportunity for a non-verbal child to speak commands to an animal, motivating students in need in the classroom, opening the lines of communication for at risk youth, or comforting someone grieving a loved one-- Hand in Paw is prepared for it all.

Hand in Paw hosts the Mutt Strut-- an annual 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run organized to raise funds for the organization. This year's Mutt Strut will take place on October 3rd. Find more info here: https://www.classy.org/event/mutt-strut-2020/e262416
